Obituary

Joseph J.Bercini,51,of Dunlevy,a former member of Dunlevy Borough Council,died Wednesday,Sept.8,1965,at 7:50 a.m.in Veterans Administration Hospital at Oakland,Pittsburgh. Mr.Bercini worked as a machine operator at the Allenport plant of Pittsburgh Steel Co. A World War II veteran,having served with the U.S.Coast Guard as a radioman,he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars,Catholic War Vets,Garibaldi Lodge in Dunlevy,Charleroi Sportsman Association,Mother of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church of Charleroi,and the Holy Name Society of the church. Mr.Bercini was a former Dunlevy soccer player. He was born in Dunlevy on March 9,1914,the son of the late Pete and Julia Danesi Bercini. Surviving are his widow,Mary Sidone Bercini,a son,Joseph M.and a daughter,Jo Ann,both at home,three brothers,Mario of Portsmouth,Ohio,Attilio of Monongahela R.D.2 and Julio of Dunlevy,three sisters,Mrs.Mary Tolkach and Mrs.Inez Pipik,both of Dunlevy,and Mrs.Irma Chislaghi of Victory Hll. Friends are being received at the Francis C.Slezak Funeral Home,Charleroi. Requiem High Mass will take place in Sts.Cyril and Methodius R.C.Church,Charleroi,at 10 a.m.Saturday,Sept.11. The Rev.Andrew J.Bjalobok,pastor,will officiate. Interment,Belle Vernon Cemetery. Francis C.Slezak,funeral director.
