Mrs. Emma Brookings,aged 62,a resident of Uniontown,died in the Walter Reed General Hospital,Washington,D.C.,Sunday,June 23,1963,at 2:30 a.m.,following a extended illness. Born in Portland,Ala.,June 6,1901,she was a daughter of the late William and Emma Hobdy. She was a member of St. John's R.C.Church,Uniontown,a charter and life member of the Royal Society Club, Brownsville, Fayette County Council of Republican Women,Brownsville-Uniontown Council of the NAACP. She was predeceased by her husband,Henry R. Brookings in 1942. She is survived by one foster daughter, Mrs. Roberta J. Freeman of Lompoc,Calif.;two foster sons, S/Sgt.Vernon R. Hobdy with the U. S. Air Force in Vandenburg, Calif. and Frank Hobdy Jr.,of Mobile,Ala,two brothers, Thomas Hobdy of Mobile.Ala, and Frank Hobdy of Tuscaloosa,Ala.,two sisters, Mrs. Janie Mae Simpson of Brownsville and Mrs. Minnie R. Gaines of Tower Hill; several nieces;ten nephews;nine great-nieces;four great-nephews;three great-grand nieces and one great-grand nephew. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Wednesday in the J.W. Kisinger Funeral Home,515 Front st., Brownsville. A Requiem Mass will be sung Thursday at 10 a.m. in St.John's R.C.Church, Uniontown. Rev. Fr. James D. Hanlon will celebrate the Mass. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited in the funeral home on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
