John U.(Brownie) Biddle;69;of 2 Washington Dr.;Monessen;died Monday;May 15;1961;at 10:55 p.m.in the Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. Born in West Elizabeth;Dec.6;1891;he had lived most of his life in Monessen. He had worked at the Monessen Plant of Pittsburgh Steel Co.for 40 years as a soaking pit crane operator before retiring in 1956. He was a member of the First Baptist Church;Monessen. A veteran of World War I;he was a member of Charleroi Barracks 350 World War I Veterans. Surviving are his widow;Ora Sickels Biddle;two sons;Lloyd of Eldora and John of Belle Vernon;two daughters;Mrs.John (Jean) Shook of Monessen and Mrs.Harry (Lillian) Fairley of Monessen;three brothers;Benjamin of Tarentum;Albert of West Elizabeth and Joseph of Monessen;a sister;Mrs.George (Mazie) Parker of Belle;W.V.;9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Friends are being received at the Edwin Melenyzer Funeral Home;262 Donner Ave.;Monessen;from 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home on Friday;May 19;at 1:30 p.m. The Rev.Allen Herman;pastor of First Baptist Church;Monessen;will officiate.
