Joseph M.Acton;66;of 908 Anne Ave.;Speers;died Thursday;Jan.4;1973;at 6:45 a.m.at the Monongahela Division of Mon Valley Hospital;Inc.after an illness of seven months. Born Jan.22;1905;in Shire Oaks;he was a son of the late Matthew and Margaret McIntyre Acton. A former resident of Monessen before moving to Charleroi 17 years ago;Mr.Acton was a retired yard master at the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He was a member of the Monessen FOE. Mr. Acton was preceded in death by his wife;Helen Carney Acton in June. Surviving are one daughter;Mrs.John(Mary) Peters of Manteca;Calif.;three sons;Joseph F.of New Eagle;Lawrence of Livonia;Mich.;William of Westland;Mich.;three brothers;Thomas and William;both of Monongahela;Lawrence of McKees Rocks;one sister;Mrs.Ann Reagan of Monessen;12 grandchildren. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Thursday at the L.M.Frye Funeral Home;427 West Main St.;Monongahela;where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev.Douglas M.Kierstead of the St.Paul’s Episcopal Church;Monongahela;officiating.
