Obituary

Ernest Astle,90,of 1718 13th St.,Altoona,died Thursday,Nov.9,1972,at 1:10 p.m.in Altoona Hospital. Born April 23,1882,in Staffordshire,England,he was a son of the late Mr.and Mrs.Joseph Astle. Mr.Astle,a former resident of Stockdale,was a retired coal miner. He was a member of St.Mary's Episcopal Church,Charleroi. Mr.Astle was preceded in death by his wife,Amy on July 6,1971. Surviving are two sons,Woodrow L.of Belle Vernon and Raymond J.of Stockdale,four daughters,Mrs.Dell (Marion) Auther of Fayette City,Mrs.Larry (Doris) Tulley and Mrs.Loma Jean Greco,both of Altoona,Mrs.William (Florence) Pidgeon of Wyndotte,Mich,17 grandchildren,26 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received after 7 p.m.Saturday and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m.Sunday at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Monday at 1 p.m.with Rev.Joseph N.Wittkoiski,pastor of St.Mary's Episcopal Church,Charleroi,officiating.
