Obituary

Andy Zip Zabawsky,74,of Charleroi,died Tuesday,Oct.11,1994,at his home. Born Dec.10,1919,in Webster,he was the son of the late Nicholas and Mary Buberniak Zabawsky. Mr.Zabawsky was a member of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church,Charleroi. He retired from the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,where he had been employed in the blast furnace department. After his retirement,he was affliated with Pittsburgh Paint and Glass Company. He was also a member of the SMS Italia Unita,Charleroi. He was a U.S.Army veteran of World War II,serving with the 420th Armored Field Artillery Battalion in the European Theatre. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by a brother,Wassail Zabawsky. Surviving are his wife,Mildred Stoogie Stetz Zabawsky,one daughter and son-in-law,Madeline (Madge) and Dr.John DuBose of Houston,Texas,two brothers,Samuel Zabawsky of Belle Vernon and Steve Zabawsky of Las Vegas,Nev.,and one sister,Ann Serbak of Belle Vernon. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Ed Melenyzer Funeral Homes Inc.,825 Fallowfield Ave.,Charleoi. A Parastas service will be held in the funeral home at 7 p.m.Thursday. Additional visitation will be held Friday from 9 to 10 a.m.in Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church,when funeral services will be held with the Rev.Joseph Cervo,pastor,officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Ed Melenyzer Funeral Homes,Inc.,Charleroi.
