Rhoda Mae (Prentice) Yates;70;of Allenport;beloved wife;mother;grandmother and great-grandmother;died peacefully at home on Friday;Oct.20;2000;with her family at her side. She was born Jan.6;1930;in Charleroi;a daughter of the late William Prentice;who died in 1954 and Catherine (Jackson) Prentice in 1989. She was born and raised in Charleroi and lived in Roscoe and Allenport for many years. She was head majorette of the Charlorettes Drum & Bugle Corp in the late 1940s. Many of her friends in her earlier years knew her as Fuzzy . Mrs. Yates was a member of the Roscoe American Legion Post 801 Auxiliary for many years. She was also an avid bingo and card player for many years. Mrs.Yates was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Survivors include her beloved husband;John Robert Bob Yates;whom she would have celebrated 53 years of marriage on Jan.17;2001. She is also survived by her children;Barbara Jo and husband Robert L.Wolford Sr.of Allenport;John Robert Yates III and wife Judy of Woodwardville;Md.;Gladys Ann and husband Kim Beveridge of North Charleroi;Jessie Lynn Frazier of Allenport and Jane Kay and husband Rick Pearson of Mapleview;a son-in-law;Richard Kaschok of Stockdale;her grandchildren;Robert Lee Wolford Jr.;Traci Lynn Wolford;Paula Rae Yates;Lindsey Renee Yates;Stephen Michael Pierce;Christopher David Kaschok;Courtney Lynn Frazier and Mellissa Lee Pearson;two great-grandsons;Jordan Lee Wolford and Jacob John Robert Wolfrd;and their mother;Stacy A.Wolford;her mother-in-law;Gladys L.(Gardner) Yates Gallaher of Dunlevy;two sisters;Dolores Prentice of Charleroi and Patricia Beveridge of Monessen;three sisters-in-law;Ann Prentice of Fallowfield Township;Darlene Prentice of Collinsburg and Ethel Yates of Roscoe;and a host of many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by two brothers;William Prentice and Ronald Prentice;both in 1997;and a brother-in-law;James Yates in 1997. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the ED MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES INC.;1008Furlong Ave.;Roscoe. Services will be held Monday;Oct.23;at 11 a.m. in the funeral home;with the Rev.Jeff St.Clair;pasor of the Speers United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
