Obituary

Michael E. Yensick,formerly of North Belle Vernon,died Wednesday, Feb. 16,2000,at 6p.m. at Haven Crest Nursing Center, Carroll Township. Born June 12,1908,in Mellen, Wisc.,he was a son of the late Michael and Anna Dandar Yensick. Mr. Yensick was a liflelong resident of North Belle Vernon. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. Mr. Yensick was a veteran of World War II where he served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army. In 1930,Mr. Yensick opened the Yensick Market,located on Broad Avenue in North Belle Vernon. When he returned from the service in 1946,he became the co-owner of Yensick's Market with his brother, Andrew J. Yensick,in North Belle Vernon at a new location,and in 1962 they relocated to Fayette Street and Henry Street where they operated a supermarket until his retirement in 1970. He was a member of the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026,where he was a past grand knight,and served as past president of the Holy Name Society.  He was also a former member and past president of the Belle Vernon Rotary Club,Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 past commander and a former member of the North Belle Vernon School Board. Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law,Andrew J. and Helen Yensick of Belle Vernon;dear friends,Lou and Connie Ceccarelli of Belle Vernon;and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Carini Yensick,on Aug. 8,1998;and by a sister, Anna Pisarchek.  Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,family owned and operated. A Prayer service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home,followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,with the Rev. John R. Cindric,V.F.,pastor,officiating.  Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Legion of Mary will recite the Rosary Friday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.  The Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will hold servies friday at 7 p.m.in the funeral home,followed by services at 7:30 p.m. by the belle Vernon kinghts of Columbus Counsil 3026.
