Obituary

Phillip E.White,77,of Route 201,Belle Vernon R.D.2,died Wednesday,June 22,1994,in Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Township.  Mr.White was born Sept.14,1916,in Georgetown,S.C.,a son of the late Phillip and Mary Smith White.  He was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation's Open Hearth Department.  Mr.White was a 1936 graduate of Monessen High School.  He was a past member of the Steward Board of Wayman A.M.E.Church,Monessen,where he attended for over 40 years.  Surviving are his wife of 49 years,Anna Bertha Thorpe White,two sons,Thomas E.White of Brunswick,Ga.,and Leon Cheatham of Wildwood,N.J.,six brothers,Scipio and Luther White,both of Monessen,and William White of Virginia Beach,Va.,Charles White of Brooklyn,N.Y.,Theodore White of Eldora and Fred White of Clinton,Md.,one sister,Anna Ruth Macer of Monessen,two godchildren,Stephanie H.Workman of Monessen and Kenneth White of Oxenhill,Md.,two brothers-in-law,Samuel Thorpe and Donald Macer,seven sisters-in-law,Irene Thorpe,Ulah Mae Abbott,Elizabeth,Ethel,Marjorie,Charlie Mae and Muriel White,two step-brothers,Leon and John Johnson,and one step-sister,Florence Womack.  Friends will be received Monday,June 27,from 2 to 9 p.m.in the Wayman A.M.E.Church,Reed Avenue,Monessen.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the church with the Rev.Goodfellow Mugala officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Beverly C.Draper Funeral Home,608 Sixth St.,Monessen,is handling arrangements.
