Obituary

John J. Widmer, 80, of 16 Jean St., Belle Vernon, died Monday, Oct. 14,1991, at home. He was born Aug.6, 1911, in Charleroi, a son of the late Rudolph and Mary Widmer. He had been a Belle Vernon resident for the past 18 years, having previously resided in Monongahela. He retired in 1974 as a coal miner at the Cokeburg Mine #60. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Andrew and Rudolph Widmer, and two sisters, Margaret Rogers and Antionette Mutich. Survivors include his wife, Eva J. Spencer Widmer, three sons, Randy and Dennis, both of Belle Vernon, and John of McKeesport, two daughters, Mrs. Sam (Lois) Henry and Mrs. Eric (Valerie) Vance, both of Monongahela, one adopted daughter, Patricia Carlock of Charleroi, four sisters, Martha Smyers of Greenville, Agnes Recaldini of Monongahela, Cecillia Harvott of Deleware and Anna Lawrence of Bridgeville, 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc., 700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where funeral services will be held Thursday at noon with the Rev.J.D.Flack of the Church of God of Prophecy,Normalville,officiating. Burial will be in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Feguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
