Obituary

James M.White Jr.of 206 Arch St.,Belle Vernon,died Sunday,Feb.22,1987,at 4:20 a.m.in Mon Valley Hospital. He was 83. Mr.White was born Oct.3,1903,in Hazelwood,a son of the late James and Sarah Easter White Sr. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon and the Junior Order of United American Mechanics. A resident of the Belle Vernon area for over 50 years,Mr.White was a former employee of American Windowglass Company of Belle Vernon and Corning Glass Works in Charleroi. He had last worked at the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation's Allenport Plant,retiring in 1969 with 29 years service. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by two brothers,John and Ray White,and by a sister,Mabel White. Survivors include his wife,Alfretta Soles White,three sons,Harold of Castle Shannon,James at home and Edward of Belle Vernon,five daughters,Mrs.Paul (Lavone) Reed of Gibsonton,Patricia Parsons of Belle Vernon,Mrs.Louis (Audrey) Vertosnik of Cleveland,Ohio,Mrs.Barry (Gwen) Vanaman of Canyon City,Colo.,and Mrs.Joseph (Sandy) Revak of Youngstown,Ohio,one sister,Mary Paulson of Hermitage,27 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Wednesday,Feb.25,at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Charles LaPlaca,pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arangements.
