Obituary

Leah Woodson Whitesides of 419 Belle Vernon Apartments,Belle Vernon,died suddenly on Sunday,Dec.9,1984,in Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Twp. She was 80. Mrs.Whitesides was born Feb.4,1904,in Monessen,a daughter of the late James Howard Woodson and Addie Burrell Woodson. She had resided in the Belle Vernon community the past nine years,having previously resided in Weirton,W.Va.,for 58 years. Mrs.Whitesides was a member of the Speer Street A.M.E.Church,Belle Vernon. She was preceded in death by her husband,Harry W.Whitesides,in June of 1975,and by three brothers,Louis,James,and Robert Woodson,and by two sisters,Mrs.Edith Jones and Mrs.Ruth McFadden. Surviving are one brother,Craig Woodson,of Belle Vernon,two sisters,Mrs.Mary Woodson Etheridge and Mrs.Hallie Woodson Corley,both of Belle Vernon,and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Speer Street A.M.E.Church,Belle Vernon,on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the church,with the Rev.Milton Roberts,Jr.,pastor,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,is in charge of arrangements.
