August "Pokey" Wasicek of 521 Henry St.,Belle Vernon,died Tuesday,Jan. 24,1984,at 7:45 p.m. in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was 73. Mr. Wasicek was born Dec. 8,1910,in Fayette City,a son of the late August and Justina Turchak Wasicek. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Yablonski and two brothers, Joseph Wasicek,who died,Sunday, Jan. 22,1984 and Charles Wasicek. A lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area,M. Wasicek was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. He was a self-employed merchant, having owned and operated Wasicek's Meat Market on Broad Ave.,in Belle Vernon from the 1920s into the 1970s. Survivors include his widow, Helen Todd Wasicek; a son, Jan Wasicek of Belle Vernon; two daughters, Mrs. George (Faith) Galiotto of Belle Vernon and Mrs. James (Judie) Kapcia of Clarksville,Mich.;one brother,Lewis Wasicek of Charleroi; one sister, Mrs. Emma Rehula of Charleroi and ten grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon, where a Blessing service will be held Friday.Jan. 27,at 12:30 p.m.followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
