Obituary

Curtis G.(Whoo-dat) Wells of 500 Green St.,Belle Vernon,died Tuesday,April 19,1983,in Veterans Hospital,Pittsburgh. He was 72. Mr.Wells was born Jan.2,1911,in Belle Vernon,a son of the late Steward and Lilly Hopkins Wells. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Belle Vernon. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon,Mr. Wells retired in 1971 from the Exxon Corporation,Pittsburgh. He was a veteran of World War ll,having served in the U.S.Navy. Mr.Wells was also a member of Belle Vernon F&AM Lodge 643,Scottish Rite Valley Lodge of Uniontown,the Consistory of Pittsburgh and the Belle Vernon American Legion. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother,Charles Wells,and a sister,Olive Palfrey. Survivors include his widow,Ann Dudgeon Wells,one son,Steward W.Wells of Sumner,Wash.,four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Friday,April 22,at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Kenneth Neiderhiser,pastor of the Belle Vernon Church of the Nazarene,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
