Thornton R.(Porky) Wellington;69;of 1213 1/2 Crest Ave.;Charleroi;died Saturday;Dec.23;1978 at 4:15 a.m.at his residence. Mr.Wellington was born Oct.20;1909 in West Virginia;a son of the late Capt.William and Mary Laughlin Wellington. He had resided in Charleroi for the past 35 years and was a retired employee of the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He was a member of St.Mary’s Episcopal Church in Charleroi. Mr.Wellington was preceded in death by five sisters;Orthelia Federer;Edith Hornick;Edna Wilson;Rene Wyautt and Dora Selby;and two brothers;Richard and Alvin Wellington. Survivors include his widow;Anna Brilla Wellington;one son;T-sgt.William H.Wellington of the Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico;two grandchildren;and one sister;Mrs.Letisha Thomas of Washington;Pa. Friends will be received in the Leonard M.Pavlic Funeral Home;Inc.;235 Fallowfield Ave.;Charleroi;from 2 to 4 p.m.and 7 to 9 p.m.on Sunday and on Tuesday. There will be no visitations on Monday;Christmas Day. A Requiem Eucharist will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m.in St.Mary’s Episcopal Church in Charleroi;with the Rev.Keith L.Ackerman as celebrant.
