James M.(Sonny) Thomas;56;of 37 E.Luce Ave.;Monessen;died Monday;Jan.9;1995;at 8 p.m.at home. Born Sept.8;1938;in Brownsville;he was the son of the late James and Hannah Williams Thomas. A lifelong resident of Monessen;Mr.Thomas was a member and on-trial deacon of Mt.Calvary Baptist Church. He retired in 1989 from the Allenport plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.;where he was employed as a hooker in the tube mill. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by Berry and Anna Peerman;who raised him. Surviving are his wife;Mildred Wade Thomas;one daughter;Mrs.Roy (Leslee) Mickey of Monessen;one son;and daughter-in-law;James M.and Tracy Thomas Jr.;of Monessen;one grandson;Roy Mickey Jr.;and two sisters;Mrs.Thomas (Hazel) Rone and Mrs.Robert (Virginia) James;both of Monessen. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in Mt.Calvary Baptist Church;230 Reed Ave.;Monessen;where services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m.with the Rev.Griffin E.Mason;pastor;officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home;626 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon.
