Robert M. Tidd,73,of the Belle Vernon Apartments,died Tuesday,July 12,1988,at 9:30 a.m.in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born Dec. 17,1914,in Belle Vernon,the son of the late Charles and Carrie Chick Tidd. A lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area,Mr. Tidd was a member of the First Christian Church of Belle Vernon. He retired in 1980 from Guttman Oil Company,where he had been employed as a dispatcher. He and his wife,Thelma Brooks Tidd,would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on Feb. 18,1989. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters,Nellie Lavik,in 1983,and Virginia Arrigo,in 1986. Surviving are his wife, Thelma Brooks Tidd;one son,Charles R. Tidd of Junction City,Kan.;one daughter, Mrs.Jay (Janet Louise) Goldberg of Los Angeles,Calif.;one brother,John A. Tdd of Perryopolis;four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. Services will be held from the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m.,with the Rev. Donald A. Bowers of the First Christian Church of Belle Vernon officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Ferguson Funeral Home.
