Obituary

Frank Sam Toia of 402 Ferncliff Drive,Belle Vernon,died Sunday,April 7,1985,at 6:30 a.m. at his home. He was 77. Mr.Toia was born August 23,1907,in Ford City, a son of the late Mr.and Mrs. Alexander Toia. He was a member of St.Sebastian Catholic Church,Belle Vernon. Mr.Toia was a life member of the North Belle Vernon Fire Department,in which he was active until the time of his death and had been parade marshal for many years. A Belle Vernon resident for the past 56 years,he retired in 1971 from the mechanical department of the Allenport Plant,Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Mr.Toia was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife,Lena Tallerico Toia,in 1971. Survivors include his wife,Dorothy Franks Toia, a son and daughter-in-law,Alexander L.and Mary Ann Toia of Belle Vernon,a stepson,William J.Franks of Belle Vernon,two stepdaughters,Mrs.Paul (Dolly) Chaussinand and Mrs. William (Mary Frances) Stewart,both of Fayette City,ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where a prayer service will be held Wednesday,April 10 at 9:30 a.m.,followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.Sebastian Church. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
