Obituary

Steven Tkach,38,of 2041 Linden St.,Finleyville,died Friday, March 3,1979 at 11:15 p.m. in Jefferson Memorial Hospital,Jefferson Borough.  Mr. Tkach was born in Banning on Dec. 2,1940,a son of the late Simon Tkach and Mrs. Mary Tkach of Belle Vernon,who survives.  He was a supervisor at the Sears Service Center in McMurray and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of Finleyville,where he served on the parish council. A former resident of Monessen and Smithton,he had resided in Finleyville for the past 12 years. Survivors include his widow,Patricia Jean Cook Tkach,two sons,Steven Tkach Jr.and Scott Patrick Tkach,both at home,his mother,Mrs. Mary Tkach of Belle Vernon,three brothers, Alex Tkach and John Tkach,both of New York City,N.Y. and Charles Tkach of Library,and three sisters,Mrs. Pauline Whitaker of Crafton,Mrs. Mary Molek of Coal Center and Helen Tkach at home. Friends will be received in the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Finleyville with the Rev. James P. O'Connor,pastor,as celebrant.  Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Shelby D.Ferguson is the funeral director in charge.
