Obituary

Bertha Shaw,90,of Fairhope,Belle Vernon,died Saturday,May 27,2000,in her home. Born Dec.26,1909,in Monessen,she was the daughter of the late Slavimir and Bara Loncaric Novisel. She had been a member of Marion United Presbyterian Church in Fairhope since 1948 and was its oldest living member. She was a member of the Willing Workers Class and Missionary Society of the church. She was also a membber of the Belle Vernon and Fayette City Golden Agers. In addition to her parents,she was preceded in death by her husband,George Shaw,a son,John M. Shaw,and two brothers,Joseph and Thomas Kostelac. Survivors include her children,William A.Novisel and his wife Gloria of Monongahela,George B.Shaw and his wife Diane of Grindstone,James (Sam) W.Shaw and his wife Mary Twinkle of Lanham,Md.,Marion Tootsey of Germantown,Md.,and Patricia (Patti) Maxwell and her husband Oakley of Fairhope,Somerset County,two brothers,Matthew Kostelac and his wife Barbara of Bedford and Nick Kostelac and his wife Sarah of Monessen,three sisters,Mildred Lloyd of Fairhope,Belle Vernon,Sophia Bachinski of Monessen and Mary Paholsky of Belle Vernon,12 grandchildren,Laura Lees,Beth Hogg,Diane Novisel,William Novisel Jr.,Mark Tootsey,Barry Novisel,Frank Maxwell,John William Shaw,Jason Shaw,Scott Shaw,Ryan Shaw and Julie Shaw,and 15 great-grandchildren. Friends were received Sunday and Monday in the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME Inc.,334 Main St.,Fayette City,where services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev.John Park officiating. Interment was in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Marion United Presbyterian Church in memory of Bertha Shaw.
