roy E.Sterner;74;of Ella Street;North Belle Vernon;died Tuesday;Feb.22;2000;in Lee Memorial Hospital;Fort Myers;Fla. Born April 28;1925;in Belle Vernon;he was the son of the late James Lawhead and Adda Gibson Sterner. Mr.Sterner attended the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon and was a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and East Belle Vernon Athletic Association. He was a lifelong
member of the Disabled
American Veterans. A lifelong
resident of the Belle Vernon
area; he retired from the
Clairton plant of U.S. Steel
where he was a painter. Mr.
Sterner was a World War II veteran; serving with the U.S.
Marines where he received the
Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife; Dorothy Lloyd
Sterner; one son; Roy E.
Sterner Jr. of Pleasant Hills;
one daughter and son-in-law;
Barbara and James Kostelac
of Marietta; Ohio; three brothers; Alvin Sterner of Belle
Vernon; Lou Sterner of the
state of Oklahoma and William Sterner of Belle Vernon;
one sister; Joan Peters of Belle
Vernon; three grandchildren;
Keith and Bryan Kostelac and
Autumn Sterner; and three
great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents; he was
preceded in death by two
brothers; Mervin and Donald
Sterner; and two sisters;
Glenna Richwine and AlvertaHelmken. A memorial service
will be held Saturday; March
4; in First Presbyterian
Church of Belle Vernon at a
time to be announced. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. The
