Agnes Stihel Stevens;79;of Lowber;Fayette City R.D.1;died Tuesday;June 1;1999;in Mon Valley Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born April 6;1920;in Perryopolis;a daughter of the late George and Veronica Rodgers. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church;Fayette City. Survivors include two sons;George P.Stihel of Tennessee;and Leonard Stihel of Fayette City R.D.;one stepson;Joseph Stevens Jr.of Fayette City R.D.2;three daughters;Veronica Payne of Missouri;Agnes Babe Atkinson of Fairhope;and Rose Mary Owsold of Virginia;nine grandchildren;and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her first husband;George Stihel Sr.;her second husband;Joseph Stevens Sr.;one daughter;Valeria Wilson;and one grandson. Friends will be received in the Eley/McCrory Funeral Home Inc.;Fayette City;on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.;Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday until 9:30 a.m.;when a prayer service will be held;followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.in Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church;Fayette City;with the Rev.Leonard J.McAlpin as celebrant. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Elcy/McCrory Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
