Obituary

Agnes Stihel Stevens,79,of Lowber,Fayette City R.D.1,died Tuesday,June 1,1999,in Mon Valley Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born April 6,1920,in Perryopolis,a daughter of the late George and Veronica Rodgers. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church,Fayette City. Survivors include two sons,George P.Stihel of Tennessee,and Leonard Stihel of Fayette City R.D.,one stepson,Joseph Stevens Jr.of Fayette City R.D.2,three daughters,Veronica Payne of Missouri,Agnes Babe Atkinson of Fairhope,and Rose Mary Owsold of Virginia,nine grandchildren,and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents,she was preceded in death by her first husband,George Stihel Sr.,her second husband,Joseph Stevens Sr.,one daughter,Valeria Wilson,and one grandson. Friends will be received in the Eley/McCrory Funeral Home Inc.,Fayette City,on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.,Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday until 9:30 a.m.,when a prayer service will be held,followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.in Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church,Fayette City,with the Rev.Leonard J.McAlpin as celebrant. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Elcy/McCrory Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
