Obituary

George Shrader, 73, of Dunlevy, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born April 1,1925, in Monessen, a son of the late George and Hattie McCallister Shrader. Mr. Shrader was Methodist by faith, and a member and trustee of the Fairhope Rod & Gun Club. He was also a member of numerous clubs throughout the Mon Valley. He retired from the Corning Glass plant in Charleroi, having previously worked at the Page plant in Monessen. Mr. Shrader was a U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include one son, Douglas Shrader, at home, one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Jimmy Smith of Belle Vernon, two sisters, June Hopkins of Charleroi and Eleanor Oliver of New Kensington, two grandsons and their wives, Frank and Holly Hoak of Columbus, Ohio and Jason Douglas and Heather Smith of Belle Vernon, three great-grandchildren, Kelsey Anne Hoak, Gunnar Anthony Hoak, and Dalton Douglas Smith. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Ronk Shrader, in 1981, by four brothers, Donald, Cliff, Claude, and Lewis (Dwayne) Shrader, and one sister, Betty Vlanich. Friends will be received at the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.,where funeral services will be held on Saturday,March 13,1999,at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Marlon A.Miller,pastor of Fells United Methodist Church,presiding. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
