Obituary

Harry Dale Simpson,64,of Belle Vernon,formerly of Monessen,died Tuesday,Aug.5,1997,in IHS of Greater Pittsburgh Nursing Home. He was born Jan.21,1933,a son of the late Nelson and Josephine Batch Simpson. Mr.Simpson was a 1951 graduate of Vernon High School and served in the U.S.Army Air Corp.from 1951 to 1955. After retiring from the Veterans Administration in 1990,he served as coordinator of the Monessen Enterprise Zone. Mr.Simpson was involved in many civic organizations,including Monessen Midget League Football and Masonic Lodge 79 of Monessen. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by seven brothers,James,Nelson,Lawrence,Louis,Robert,Henry and Keith Simpson,two sisters,Hazel Chilton and Ethel Chilton and three nephews. Survivors include his former wife of 38 years,Marilyn McCraw Simpson of Monessen,a daughter and son-in-law,Shelly and Robert Ramsey of Whitsett,a son,Dale K.Simpson of Monessen,two grandchildren,Robert and Shaina Ramsey,two sisters and brothers-in-law,Betty and Jack Dillard of Columbus,Ohio,formerly of Belle Vernon,and Velma and Vincent Frazier of Belle Vernon, his mother-in-law,Ruby McCraw of Monessen,nieces,nephews and friends. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Union Baptist Church,670 McMahon Ave.,Monessen,where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Griffin Mason officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Beverly C.Draper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
