Obituary

Ida Payton (Thompson) Stamper,77,died Wednesday,May 28,1997. She was born Sept.9,1919,in Derry,a daughter of the late Daisy Thompson of Gallatin. She was raised in the Mon Valley and attended school in Pricedale. She resided in Brooklyn,N.Y.,for the past 50 years. Survivors include her husband,Sam Stamper of Gary,Ind. She was also preceded in death by one sister,Mary Lou Thompson West,and one brother,Thomas (Mugsy) Thompson. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.in the Beverly C.Draper Funeral Home,608 Sixth St.,Monessen,where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Griffin E.Mason officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. She was also survived by the following relatives,Betty Tidwell,Doretha Brown,Herbert Lippincott Sr.,Chauncey Lippincott and family,Ida Mae (West) Brown and Marshall West of Monessen,Loretta Floyd of Donora,and her dear friend,Mrs.Brothers and family of Brooklyn. The Beverly C.Draper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
