Obituary

Charles T.Smith,83,of Rostraver Township,died Tuesday,May 20,1997,at 10 a.m.in Mon Valley Hospital. Born Sept.5,1913,in Belle Vernon,he was the son of the late Frank and Emily White Smith. A resident of Rostraver Township for more than 50 years,Mr.smith was a member of the Smithton Nazarene Church and the Rostraver Lions Club. He was a former member of the United Mine Workers of America and retired from the paint department of the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by his wife,Rose Dudgeon Smith,who died March 2,1989,and two sisters,Sarah Stewart and Gertrude Lunt. Surviving are two daughters,Myra Smith Dolence of Finleyville and Sharon Smith of Greensburg,two granddaughters,Carolyn Kelly of McMurray and Christina Calbone of Daytona Beach,Fla.,and two great-grandsons,Christian and Colin Kelly. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home,with Pastor Gerald R.Dunlap of the Smithton Nazarene Church officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.
