Obituary

Carrol (Carl) Simmons,76,of Charleroi,died suddenly Thursday,March 17,1994,at his home. Mr.Simmons was born July 1,1917,in Doe Hill,W.Va.,a son of the late Kenny C. and Maggie Moats Simmons. A former employee of the Melenyzer Furniture Store in Charleroi for 28 years,he retired from Charleroi Borough,where he was a police dispatcher for 13 years. Mr.Simmons was an active member of the Charleroi Volunteer Fire Department for 37 years,where he was a past president and engineer. He was a U.S.Navy veteran. Mr.Simmons was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Charleroi,BPO Elks Lodge No.494,Charleroi,and American Legion Post No,22,Charleroi. Surviving are his wife,Shirley J.Briggs Simmons,one son,Mark Alan Simmons of Charleroi,two brothers,John Simmons of Fayette City and William R.Simmons of Belle Vernon,and a granddaughter,Marla Jo Simmons of Charleroi. Friends will be received Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home,Inc.,226 Fallowfield Ave.,Charleroi. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev.William Pennock of The Presbyterian Church of Charleroi officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family suggests contributions in Mr.Simmons'Memory may be made to the Charleroi Volunteer Fire Department.
