Obituary

Andrew Surovchak,of 915 Henry St.,Belle Vernon,died Sunday,Feb.27,1994,at 7:25 p.m.at his home.  Mr.Surovchak was born in Arnold City,a son of the late John and Mary Sciranka Surovchak.  He retired in 1971 after 49 years of service from the Monessen Southwestern Railroad office of the former Monessen plant of Wheeliing-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation,where he was employed as a clerk.  Mr.Surovchak was a lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon community.  He was a member of St.John Lutheran Church,Charleroi,where for 37 years he served as a deacon and as secretary-treasurer.  Mr.Surovchak was a member of the National Slovak Society and the United Lutheran Society,serving offices in both of these organizations for many years.  Surviving are his wife,Anna Telleck Surovchak;a son,Paul Surovchak of Belle Vernon;a daughter,Mrs.Robert (Martha) Breakwell of Belle Vernon;seven grandchildren,Michael,Mark,Susan,David and Daniel Surovchak,and Rebekah and Matthew Breakwell;and one sister,Julia Bruegger of Canton,Ohio.  Five sisters,Anna Trussa,Susan Ya Senka,Elizabeth Buchta,Mary Sholtis and Ella Brindzak,and two brothers,John and Michael Surovchak,are also deceased.  Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon.  A Prayer Service will be held Wednesday at 12:15 p.m.in the funeral home,followed by Funeral Services at 1 p.m.at St.John Lutheran Church,Charleroi,with the Rev.Dr.Stephen C.Hurnyak,pastor,officiating.  A Devotion Service will be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.in the funeral home.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
