Obituary

Joseph F. Sobek, 80, of Navaho Hollow, Fayette City, died Thursday, Feb 25, 1993, at 10:20 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born Sept 23, 1912, in Fayette City, a son of the late Mike and Mary Ciba Sobek. He was a member of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, Fayette City. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the 82nd Airborne Division, 505 Paratroop Regiment. He was retired from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., having served for 39 years in the chipping department. Survivors include two sons, Larry Sobek of Belle Vernon and Randy Sobek of Germany, one daughter, Mrs. George (Cheryl) Yarnall of Pittsburgh, and four grandchildren, Yancy and Derek Sobek, and Ashley and Alyssa Yarnall, and three brothers, Thaddeus (Ted), Lawrence and Carl Sobek, all of Belle Vernon, and two sisters, Mrs. Anthony (Ann) Semancik of Fayette City and Mrs. Anthony (Stella) Errigo of Belle Vernon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Cislak Sobek, in 1977. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home. Fayette City. A Prayer service will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m.,followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.in the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church,Fayette City,with the Rev.Richard E.Mackiewicz,pastor,as celebrant. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Fuenral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
