Obituary

Minerva M. Speers, 99, of 516 Fayette Ave., Belle Vernon, died at 10:14 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 1992, in the United Methodist Health Center (Asbury Heights), Pittsburgh. Mrs. Speers was born Jan. 7, 1893, in California, Pa., a daughter of the late William and Ellen Bowdler Mitchell. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Belle Vernon. Mrs. Speers was also a charter member of the Women's Club of Belle Vernon. She had lived in the Belle Vernon area the last 80 years. Mrs. Speers was also a member of the Mimiriam Literary Club of Belle Vernon. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Stephen Speers, who died in 1956, and by a son, Stephen M. Speers, who died in 1980. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Torrance Etheridge of West Bloomfield, Mich., Betty Didrichsen of Sonora, Calif., and Mrs. Charles (Patsy) Bradley of King of Prussia, Pa., eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home, Inc., 700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m.with the Rev.Dr.Thomas St.Clair,pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
