Obituary

Murel H. Sneed of Charleroi died Tuesday, Nov 22, 1988, in Mon Valley Hospital. He was 80. Mr. Sneed was born July 20, 1908, in Speers, a son of the late Louis A. and Harriet Hilton Sneed. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and F&AM Lodge 615, both of Charleroi. Mr. Sneed was a veteran of World War II, serving as a technical sergeant in the U.S. Army's 1498th Engineer Foundry. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a master's degree in education, Mr. Sneed had taught at the Connely Trade School in Pittsburgh. He had also worked as a job coordinator for the City of Pittsburgh School District. Mr. Sneed was a former Burgess of the Borough of Speers, and had also served as a Speers Borough councilman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Horst Sneed: three brothers and four sisters. Survivors include two sisters, Alma Sneed of Charleroi and Eleanor Vetter of Fallowfield Township. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi,where services will be held Saturday,Nov.26,1988,at 10 a.m.with Pastor James M.Robbins of Christ Lutheran Church,Charleroi,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home,Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
