Mya Chanell Parker was born on Sept. 21, 2005. She was the foster daughter of Sonia Parker and was later adopted by Sonia on Nov. 27, 2013, at the age of eight. As a child, Mya was known for her happy spirit and her love for skating and swimming. As she grew, she developed a passion for cooking and baking, frequently preparing dishes for her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed dancing and creating TikTok videos with her sisters. Mya attended the Belle Vernon Area School District, where she was highly involved in school functions, clubs, and extracurricular activities. She took great joy in dressing up for school dances and attended her senior prom in 2024. Mya excelled in her high school culinary classes and received several honors, including a departmental award from CWCTC and both silver and gold medals at the 2023 and 2024 FCCLA Culinary competitions at Seven Springs. In 2021, she was recognized with the Leopard PAW award for her positive attitude, and she earned her ServSafe Food Handler certification in 2022. Throughout high school and beyond, Mya gained practical experience working at McDonald’s, Valley Dairy, Hoss’s, Acrisure Stadium, and Sheetz. These roles served as the foundation for her career aspirations. Following her graduation from Belle Vernon Area High School in 2024, she was accepted into Job Corps and enrolled in the culinary program at the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC). Mya was an active member of First Christian Church and participated in the Western Region Fellowship, the Greater Pennsylvania State Council, and PAW national conventions. She sang in the choir, served as an usher, assisted with food service at GPSC councils, and took great pleasure in reading scripture during Sunday School. Mya was preceded in death by her mother Sonia Parker. She was survived by her brothers, Phillip Parker (Mary Beth), Ray Parker Jr., Richard Parker; and sisters, Tamika Germany (Dion), Desirez Crews (Demetri).
