Obituary

John Shuma of Belle Vernon R.D.3 died Tuesday,Dec.10,1985,at the Pine View Care Center,Greensburg. He was 83. Born in Monessen,July 24,1902,he was a son of the late George and Mary Kurtz Shuma. Mr.Shuma was the former owner of Roundstone Inn in Rostraver Township. He was a member of St.John The Divine Orthodox Church of Monessen. He was preceded in death by his wife,Julia M.Shuma,in 1971. Surviving are two sons,William J.Shuma of Pittsburgh and Wayne J.Shuma of South Huntingdon Township,a daughter,Mrs.David (Nancy) Sherman of Verona,three brothers,Alex and Paul Shuma,both of Monessen and Dr.Edward Shuma of Rockville,Md.,three sisters,Mrs.Steve (Margaret) Tomayko of Belle Vernon R.D.3,Mrs.George (Helen) Polkabla of Donora and Mrs.Catherine Halgas of Belle Vernon and five grandchildren. Friends are being received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the James C.Stump Funeral Home,Sweeney Plan,Rostraver Township,where a parastas service will be held Thursday at 8 p.m. Funeral services Friday begin at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by additional services at 11 a.m. at St.John the Divine Orthodox Church,Monessen,with Rev.John Horosky officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Stump Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
