Joyce Patricia Carter (McCarthy), born on August 20, 1942, in Arnold City, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, in Freeport Village, New York. She was 82 years old.
Joyce dedicated much of her professional life to serving others through her work at Nassau University Medical Center. Her commitment to her role reflected a deep sense of responsibility and care that touched the lives of many throughout her career.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mary Lee McCarthy as well as her brothers Gerald McCarthy and Brian McCarthy. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.
Joyce is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Arthur "Butch" McCarthy (Mary), Barbara Harrell (Clarence) and Jewell Ward (Sam), Her two sons, Glenn Carter (Tierney) and Otis Carter (Cheryl), two grandsons, Glenn Carter Jr and Otis Carter Jr. She had a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, whom she cherished deeply and considered like her own children.
In addition to her devotion to family and work, Joyce found joy in simple pleasures. She was an avid reader who loved immersing herself in books and she enjoyed the excitement of visiting casinos- a pastime that brought her both fun and relaxation. Her infectious laugh was often heard while watching her beloved sitcoms.
