Obituary

Edith Hamilton Smock,73,of Belle Vernon R.D.2 died Friday morning,Jan.25,1985,at her home. She was born in Webster Jan.1,1912,a daughter of the late Thomas and June Staff Hamilton. A lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area,she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon,served on its Board of Deacons and was a member of the Regulars Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Belle Vernon Women's Club and Rostraver A.A.R.P. She was retired from the Belle Vernon Area School District,where she had been employed as a cook in the cafeteria at Rostraver Junior High School. Survivors include her husband,Roy Smock,one daughter,Mrs.William (Mary Jane) Jones of Rockville,Md.,two granddaughters,Melanie Jane Owen of Gambrills,Md.,and Karen Lee Oliver of Washington,D.C.,three great grandchildren,Heather Leigh Owen and Erin Marie Owen of Gambrills,Md.,and Matt Owen of Washington,D.C.,five sisters,Mrs.Richard (Grace) Poole of Canonsburg,Mrs.Earl (Mildred) Wahl of Monessen,Mrs.Eunice Williams of Bloomfield,N.J.,Mrs.Steve (Della) Koskoski of Donora and Norma Lewis of Monessen,and three brothers,Thomas Hamilton of Donora,Boyd Hamilton of Belle Vernon and Charles Hamilton of Fayetteville,N.C. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev.Charles D.LaPlaca of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rostraver Emergency Medical Services. Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
