Celeste Henrietta Celestine Roskevitch, 89, of Rostraver Township, died June 27, 2024, with loving family by her side. Celeste Henrietta Celestine Roskevitch was born on May 12, 1935, in Granville, Pa., to the late Angelo Celestine and Blanche Zanardelli Celestine and went by Henrietta for most of her life until she became a grandmother and was dubbed “Gug” by her eldest grandson. From then on, she was affectionately called Gug by everyone who had the privilege to know her. Gug attended California Area High School (Class of 1953) before pursuing her registered nurse degree at Southside School of Nursing (Class of 1956). After nursing school, she dedicated 11 years to the patients of Brownsville General Hospital, serving in both the emergency and operating rooms. She spent the next 34 years of her career at California University of Pennsylvania with the latter part as the supervising nurse. Treating patients with dignity, respect and true compassion was always of the utmost importance to Gug. Consistent in her commitment to serving others, she spent several of her retired years on the Monessen Ambulance Board of Trustees. Gug was the loving mother of Judy (Christopher) Bell; proud grandmother of Christopher (Amy) Bell Jr., Zachary (Megan) Bell; and doting great-grandmother to Hazel, Rhys Winry and Barret. She was sister to Delores Henry and Thomas Celestine. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Gug was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Susan Roskevitch, who passed as an infant; husband, Edward Walter Roskevitch; brother-in-law, William Henry; and sisters-in-law, Rhoda and Bonnie Celestine. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 29, 2024, at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave, Belle Vernon, 724-9295300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory. com. A blessing service will begin at noon with Father Roselo Melloria officiating. Entombment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
