Obituary

George J.Skurkay of 101 Broadway Dr.,Pleasant Hills,died Sunday,Feb.20,1983,at 9:10 p.m.in his home.  He was 80.  Mr.Skurkay was born April 9,1902,in Monessen,a son of the late George and Anna Wishnanski Skurkay.  He retired in 1965 as superintendent of the Pittsburgh Steel Foundry and Machine Co.,Glassport.  Mr.Skurkay had lived in the Pleasant Hills area the past 31 years.  He was preceded in death by his wife,Nelle Shimchick Skurkay,on Jan.2,1982,and by three brothers,Peter,Michael and Edward Skurkay.  Mr.Skurkay was a member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church,Belle Vernon.  Surviving are one brother,John Skurkay,of Belle Vernon,three sisters,Mrs.Mary Gezzer of Baldwin,Mrs.Richard (Margaret) Fross of Cleveland,Ohio,and Mrs.John (Irene) Talpas of Greensburg,nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received at the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  A Parastas Service will by held Tuesday at 8 p.m.in the funeral home.  Relatives and friends will gather at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church,Belle Vernon,Wednesday at 9 a.m.,where services will be held with the Rev.John Kluchko,pastor,as celebrant.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
