Obituary

Carolyn M. Santavicca, 72, of Dunlevy, died on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, in Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late Sigi and Rena Rossi Santavicca, she was born in North Charleroi on May 24, 1952. A lifelong resident of Dunlevy, Carolyn was a graduate of Charleroi Area High School, where she was very active on her reunion committee for many years. She was the president of the Dunlevy Recreation Center Inc., former borough tax collector and secretary, and worked for State Farm for 30 years. Following family legacy, Carolyn was a founding member and secretary of the Mon Valley Youth Soccer Association. She was privileged to have served with her team, Kim, Cynthia, Nancy, Madalyn and Gary, to prepare and serve lunch for the veterans on Memorial Day and Veterans Day with the help of Brian and Mary Beth at Mariner’s Hall. She always enjoyed her monthly lunches with her “old” Dunlevy friends as well as dinners at Smitty’s with her girlfriends. Baking for the holidays gave her great joy. Carolyn’s biscotti and pizzelles were always in demand. She also loved doing puzzles, gardening, and crocheting. Surviving to honor her memory are her brother and best friend, Gary Santavicca, with whom she shared a home; sisters, Madalyn Pollitt of Charleroi, her travel buddy, Marlene Santavicca of Clearwater, Fla., who kept her smiling, and Ernestine Lee (Regis) of North Charleroi, who gave her two beautiful nieces, Rachel Lee (fiancé, Dan Paul) of Canonsburg and Katie Lee (fiancé, Jim Diaz) of Belle Vernon, and special cousins throughout the country. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCre-matory. com. A blessing will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, in the funeral home with Father Fred Pfeil of St. George Orthodox Church in Bridgeville officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
