Mary Jane Amalong Smock;91;of Belle Vernon RD 2;died at noon Saturday;Nov.21;1981;on her 91st birthday at the South Hills Convalescent Center;Canonsburg. Mrs.Smock was born Nov.21;1890 in Belle Vernon;a daughter of the late George and Maud Harper Amalong. She was preceded in death by her husband;Gilbert F.Smock on Oct.21;1974;by a son;Donald Gordon Smock;on Oct.27;1979;and by one sister;Georgia Myers;and a brother;Charles Reed Amalong. A liflong resident of the Belle Vernon community;Mrs.Smock was a member of the First Presbyterian Church;Belle Vernon. Survivors include two sons;Roy L.Smock of Belle Vernon and Thurman Elwood Smock of Uniontown;five grandchildren;four great-grandchildren;three great-great-grandchildren;and several cousins. Friends will be received at the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home;626 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev.Charles D.LaPlaca;pastor;First Presbyterian Church;Belle Vernon;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
