Obituary

Edith A.Stedman,108 State St.,Speers Hill,Charleroi,died yesterday at 8:30 a.m.in Mon Valley Hospital. She was 74. Born Dec.6,1906 in Patton,Pa.,she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes Delpierre Mertens. Mrs.Stedman had lived in Speers since 1950. Mrs.Stedman was a member of the Speers United Methodist Church and the WSCS of the church. Also,she was a member of the Charleroi Chapter No.122,Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband,Wilford W.Stedman,a brother,Norman Mertens of Patton,a niece and three nephews,Mrs.Sandra Stedman North of Glen Mills,Dr.Jeffrey W.Mertens of McMurray,Kim N.Mertens of Bluefield,W.Va.and Wayne M.Mertens of Cambridge,Ohio. Friends will be received in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Eastern Star services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 8 p.m.by Charleroi Chapter No.122 Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home,with the Rev.Dennis M.Henley,pastor of the Speers United Methodist Church,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
