Edith A.Stedman;108 State St.;Speers Hill;Charleroi;died yesterday at 8:30 a.m.in Mon Valley Hospital. She was 74. Born Dec.6;1906 in Patton;Pa.;she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes Delpierre Mertens. Mrs.Stedman had lived in Speers since 1950. Mrs.Stedman was a member of the Speers United Methodist Church and the WSCS of the church. Also;she was a member of the Charleroi Chapter No.122;Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband;Wilford W.Stedman;a brother;Norman Mertens of Patton;a niece and three nephews;Mrs.Sandra Stedman North of Glen Mills;Dr.Jeffrey W.Mertens of McMurray;Kim N.Mertens of Bluefield;W.Va.and Wayne M.Mertens of Cambridge;Ohio. Friends will be received in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Eastern Star services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 8 p.m.by Charleroi Chapter No.122 Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home;with the Rev.Dennis M.Henley;pastor of the Speers United Methodist Church;officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson;funeral director;is in charge of arrangements.
