Obituary

Helen J. Stanish, 93, of Fayette City, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 24, 2022 in Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late John and Julia Pokros Rutkowski, she was born in Duquesne on November 17, 1929. Helen was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon and the former Holy Spirit Church of Fayette City. Formerly of Duquesne, she had been a resident of Fayette City for the past 65 years. She was an avid bowler, having previously belonged to many leagues and also loved building 1000-piece jigsaw puzzles. She is survived by two daughters and sons in-law, Rose M. and Thomas Young of Harmony, PA and Julie and Robert Henry of N. Huntingdon, a son, Tim Stanish of Fayette City; three grandchildren, Brad (Caitlyn) Rohlf of Winnabow, NC, Jessica (Alec) McGaffic of Naples, Italy, and Jennifer (Matthew) Wilson of N. Huntingdon; three great grandchildren, Connor Rohlf, Blair Rohlf, and Nathan McGaffic, and two ‘on the way’. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Stanish on March 12, 2020, and three brothers, John ‘Sonny’ Rutkowski, Donald Rutkowski, and Raymond Rutkowski. A memorial mass will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023 at 9:30 A.M. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 200 Leger Road, Irwin, PA 15642 with Father John A. Moineau as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
