John Smoody of Gibsonton;
Belle Vernon R.D.2; died
Sunday;May 31;1981 at 5:45 p.m. in the
Washington Hospital. He was
78.
Mr. Smoody was born Dec.
1; 1902 a son of the late
Thomas and Mary Nagy
Smoody.
He was a member of St.
Sebastian Church in Belle
Vernon.
Mr. Smoody had been a
resident of the Belle Vernon
area for the past 35 years.
He was preceded in death
by his wife; Helen; on May 24;
1981; a daughter; Helen on
Sept. 20; 1976; and two sons;
John in 1936 and Frank in 1963. A retired steelworker for U.S.Steel Corporation’s Irvin Works;Mr.Smoody was a member of the Hungarian Club of Pricedale and the MARS Bowling League. Survivors include two sons;Alex of Louisville;Ky.and Charles William of Pricedale;five grandchildren;one of which is Lisa Marie Smoody; at home; and four great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;after 7 p.m.Monday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Tuesday;where a Blessing Service will be held Wednesday;June 3;at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
