Obituary

John J. Cope,77,of Naomi,Fayette City R.D.1,died at 9 p.m. Thursday,July 11,1991,in the Veterans' Administration Medical Center, Oakland, Pittsburgh,after a lengthy illness. Mr. Cope was born Sept. 2,1913,in Washington Township,Fayette County,a son of the late John and Rosella Yonkas Cope. He was a retired self-employed truck driver and general contractor. Mr. Cope was a member of the Holy Spirit R.C.Church,Fayette City,the Fairhope Rod and Gun Club and the Naomi Athletic Club.  He was a U.S.Army veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Matthew V. Cope and Joseph E. Cope,and by one sister, Anna B. Rockidge.  Mr. Cope was the last living member of his immediate family,survived only by several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.,Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.,and on Monday until 9:30 a.m.,the hour of a Prayer Service in the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Spirit R.C.Church,Fayette City,with the Rev. Richard Mackiewicz,pastor, as celebrant.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangemments.
