Obituary

Roger Rossi, 80,of Dunlevy,died Monday, Dec. 5,1994,at 9:30 a.m. in Victoria House, Monessen.  Born May 4,1914,in Dunlevy,he was a son of the late Romano and Ernesta Lenzini Rossi.  A lifelong resident of Dunlevy, Mr. Rossi had been steward of the Garibaldi Lodge in Dunlevy for 35 years. Beginning in 1930,he played soccer for 30 years,playing first for Dunlevy and later for Gallatin, Castle Shannon,Heidelberg, Morgan and Harmarville.  In 1976,Mr.Rossi was inducted into the Western Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame where he was condidered one of the most outstanding center-forwards in Western Pennsylvania. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by a son, William Roger Rossi;three brothers, Reno,Ramo ad Raymond Rossi and one sister, Laura Rossi. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. John (Trumane) MacDonald of Beechhurst,N.Y.;three brothers, Ralph Rossi of Dunlevy, Thomas Rossi of Pittsburgh,Calif.and Ronald Rossi of Belle Vernon R.D.;one sister, Rena Santavicca of Dunlevy and two grandchildren,Laura and John MacDonald. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Friday at noon with the Rev. Charles K. Sowden,retired United Methodist minister,officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  VFW Post 167 of Charleroi will hold services Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.  The Ferguson Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
