Obituary

Richard S.Rogus,65,of 819 Jane Ave.,Charleroi (Speers Hill),died Wednesday,Jan.25,1989,at 11:15 p.m.at his home. He was born May 22,1923,in Hazelton,a son of the late Stanley and Clara Borowiak Rogus. Mr.Rogus had lived in Speers for the past 30 years and was a member of the borough's Planning Commission. He retired in June,1988,after 39 years of service with the Allegheny Power Service Co.in Greensburg,where he had been the area transmission supervisor. He was a member of St.Jerome Roman Catholic Church,Charleroi,the Charleroi Elks,where he was a past exalted ruler,the Charleroi VFW,the Charleroi Sportsmen's Club,and the Professional Engineering Society of Pennsylvania. He was a U.S.Marine veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his wife,Anne Bedio Rogus,two sons,Richard Rogus of Monroeville and Ronald Rogus of Boston,Mass.,one daughter,Mrs.David (Diane) Varner,at home,two grandchildren,Deena Varner and Brent Rogus,one brother,Bernard Rogus of Philadelphia,and one sister,Nancy Lynn of Bloomsburg. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home at 9 a.m.on Saturday,then proceed to St.Jerome Roman Catholic Church,Charleroi,for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.,with Fr.John Marcucci officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.
