Joseph Rice of 915 Prospect Ave.;Charleroi;died Tuesday;Dec.11;1982;at 11:12 a.m.in the Mon Valley Hospital. He was 63. Mr.Rice was born Oct.24;1919;in Fayette City;a son of the late Charles and Sarah Maude Oliphant Rice. A resident of the Mon Valley his entire life;Mr.Rice was protestant by faith. He was a retired coal miner;having been employed by the Bethelehem Mines at Cokeburg. In addition to his parents Mr.Rice was preceded in death by a sister;Betty Swanter. Survivors include his widow;Madeleine McGinty Rice;one step-daughter;Mrs.Harry (Alice) Russell of Belle Vernon;one brother;Harold Rice of the state of California;two sisters;Mrs.James (Dolores) Gargan of Morrisville;Pa.and Mrs.Yvonne Bonnie Voclker of Charleroi;two step-grandsons and one step-great-granddaughter;and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Carl J.Spallino Funeral Home;819 Fallowfield Ave.;Charleroi;on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday;Dec.16;from 10 a.m.until 1 p.m.;the hour of service with Pastor James M.Robbins of Christ Lutheran Church;Charleroi;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Carl J.Spallino Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
