Obituary

 

George Povich Jr.,82,of Monessen,died Wednesday,June 30,1999,in Westmoreland Manor. Born May 6,1917,in Monessen,he was a son of the late George Povich Sr.and Anna Sutovich Povich.  A lifelong resident of Monessen,he was a U.S.Army veteran of World War II.  Mr.Povich was retired from Wheeling -Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,Monessen plant,where he had worked as a rigger in the finishing department.  He was a member of St.John the Divine Russian Orthodox Church,Monessen.  Mr.Povich was also a member of American Legion Post 659 of Belle Vernon,and the Slovak Home,Croatian Home and CFU Lodge 194,all of Monessen.  In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by a brother,Marko Povich,two sisters,Mildred Povich and Pearl Weightman,and two grandchildren,David and Stephen Dolnack. Survivors include his wife of 53 years,Lorraine Lazzari Povich,two daughters and sons-in-law,Joan and Donald Dolnack of Herndon,Va.,and Carol and Jerome Hudak of Bethel Park,one son,George J.Povich of Monessen,six grandchildren,Greg,Chris,Leah,Brandon,Michael and Daniel,three sisters,Helen Bialon,Mrs.Jules (Dolores) Ostetrico and Mrs.James (Joyce) McGowan,all of Monessen,and six brothers,Thomas Povich of Monongahela,Nick Povich of Charleroi,Melvin Povich of Charleroi,Melvin Povich of Finleyville,and Stanley,Pete and Charles Povich,all of Monessen.  Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Robert A.Billick Funeral Home Inc.,Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue,Monessen,where Parastas services will be held on Friday at 7 p.m.and a Blessing Service will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m.,followed by Funeral Services at 9:30 a.m.in St.John the Divine Russian Orthodox Church with the Very Rev.John Horosky officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Robert A.Billick Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
