Obituary

Frank S.Palfrey,67,of Stroal Acres,Allenport,died unexpectedly Wednesday,Oct.4,1995,in the emergency room of Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Tonwship.  A member of Allenport Borough Council for 24 years,he had just been appointed mayor of Allenport.  Mr.Palfrey was a former fire chief of the Stockdale Volunteer Fire department.  He was born Jan.13,1928,in Fairhope,a son of the late Thomas and Ruth Stark Palfrey.  Employed at the Allenport plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation,Mr.Palfrey retired Sept.1,1990,after 47 years and eight months of service.  He had served for 22 years as a member of the Washington County Democrat Committee. Mr. Palfrey was a life member of the Stockdale Volunteer Fire Department and was also a member of the Washington County Firemen's Association, Western Pennsylvania Firemen's Association, and the Southwestern Pennsylvania Fire Chiefs and Assistant Fire Chiefs Association. He was also a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Charleroi for over 45 years, previously serving as a vestryman, Mr. Palfrey was also a member of the Retired Employees of Allenport Plant (REAP) Golf League, the Veterans Club of Charleroi and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 167, Charleroi.  He served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from May, 1946, to October, 1947.  Surviving are his wife, Bonnie
J. Palfrey of Stroal Acres; five sons, Frank W. (and daughter-in-law Connie) Palfrey of Bentleyville, John T. (and daughter-in-law Deborah) Palfrey of Elkton, Md., David E. (and daughter-in-law Kimberly) Palfrey of Manassas, Va.,
James R. Palfrey of Stockdale, and Glen A. (and daughter-in-law Tammy) Palfrey of Oldtown, Idaho; one stepson, John S. Rudnisky of Fredericktown; nine grandchildren, Frank W. Palfrey Jr., and Eric J., Lyndon C., Kara S., Heather D., Neil C., Sarah D., Kayla M. and Levi G. Palfrey; one brother, Thomas Palfrey of Doraville, Ga.; and one sister, Marion (Mae) Gauden of Pennsacola, Fla. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Ellen E. Augustine.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Saturday and and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday until 10:30 a.m.in the Ed Melenyzer Funeral Homes Inc.,1008 Furlong Ave.,Roscoe.  The American Legion Roscoe Post 801 will hold services in the funeral home Sunday at 7 p.m.,followed by Charleroi VFW Post 167 services at 7:30 p.m.  A firemen memorial service will be held Sunday at 8 p.m.in the funeral home.  Prayer services will be held Saturday at 8 p.m.in the funeral home with the Rev.Richard Visconti of St.Mary Episcopal Church,Charleroi,with the Rev.Richard Visconti officiating.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m.in St.Mary Episcopal Church,Charleroi,with the Rev.Richard Visconti officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Ed Melenyzer Funeral Homes Inc.is handling arrangements.
