Harriet (Hardy) Pennington,83,of 902 Duquesne Place Drive,Duquesne,and formerly of Monessen,died on Wednesday,Dec. 27,1989,at 10:30 a.m. in Braddock Hospital. She was born on Dec. 22,1906,in Kemberly,Va.,a daughter of the late John and Mary Hardy. Mrs. Pennington was also preceded in death by her husband,James Pennington Sr.; five brothers, Lawrence,Bathe,Ernest,Landrin and Thomas Hardy,and two sisters, Mary and Julia Hardy. She was a member of the senior choir and ushers and nurses boards at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Monessen. She was also a member of Star of Bethlehem Chapter No. 34,Order of Eastern Star,Prince Hall affiliation. She also belonged to the Elks Auxiliary of Monessen. Mrs. Pennington is survived by two sons, Henry T. of St. Louis,Mo.,and James T. Jr. and a daughter-in-law,Connie,with whom she made her home; one daughter, Bessie Hardy of Warren,Ohio,one brother-in-law and sister-in-law,Mr and Mrs. Robert Pennington of Ocula, Fla.,and Ethel Hardy of Baltimore,Md.,and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren,nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Beverly C. Draper Funeral Home,608 6th St.,Monessen. Eastern Star services will also be held on Friday at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 30,at 1 p.m. in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Griffin Mason,pastor,officiating. Interment will be at Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Beverly Draper Funeral Home is handllng arrangements.
