Obituary

Mike P. Povrzanich, 77, of 210 Frederick St., Belle Vernon, died Saturday July 22, 1989, at 3:20 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. Born Jan. 1, 1912, in Monessen, he was the son of the late Paul and Frances Povrzanich. Mr. Povrzanich was a lifelong resident of the Mon Valley Area. A retired coal miner and steelworker, he was a member of UMWA Local 9873. He was also a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 194, S.N.P.J. Lodge 505 and the Croatian Club, all of Monessen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Rose Povrzanich, and a stepbrother, Frank Horvath. Surviving are his wife, Goldie, two sons, George and Peter Povrzanich, both of Belle Vernon, two grandchildren, Nadine Davis and Gregory Povrzanich, both of Fayette City, four great grandchildren, Michelle, Tommy, Mary and Michael, and three sisters, Mary Gomeric and Ann Bradarich, both of Yugoslavia, and Dorothy Povrzanich of Canada. Friends will be received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen,where a Blessing service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.,followed by Mass of Christian Bural at 10 a.m.in St.Anthony Roman Catholic Church,Monessen,with Fr.Bruno Raspudic as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Parish Rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 8 p.m.Monday. Arrangements are being handled by the Robert A.Billick Funeral Home Inc.
